Germany vs Argentina

Penalty kicks are such a cruel way to end a match. I think both Germany & Argentina played well in this quarter-final. And I was hoping that Argentina could hang on to defend their 1-0 score till the end of the match. But when their goalkeeper was changed, everything seemed to change as well... it was the beginning of their nightmare. I'm not a die-hard Argentina fan or Germany fan but I thought this is possibly one of the most exciting matches that could happen, very much like a World Cup Finals match. Adrenaline-high.

I have always wished that goals are scored during the match - whether they are great goals or not - so that it won't end in a penalty situation. It takes lots of guts for the players... I still remember Roberto Baggio, how he missed the penalty kick in 1994... he's one of my favorite players when I started watching World Cup. But what a way to end a match... My conclusion - penalty shootout is cruel.

Even for us viewers, it can cause heartbeats to skip in that tense moment... 8)
