Viva Italia

It is extremely true that I am very glad with the outcome of the World Cup Finals! The kiss of heaven upon the Italian team. Finally, after so many years, they are crowned as the World Champions again & we saw them lifting up the trophy that is the dream of many players. That they have done surprisingly well during the penalty shootout is by itself a Miracle, a redemption from their defeat in the 1994 World Cup Finals when they lost to Brazil over penalty kicks. It sure brought heartache at that time to those of us who supported them. And so I can understand how the German fans felt when Italy conceded the 2 goals in the late minutes of the game against Germany... when your favourite team has come so far into the game, and is so near to victory, but yet the hopes are suddenly smashed, crushed, destroyed, in the twinkling of an eye. Your heart sank. Your mind is trying to come to terms with the reality of the results. It's a very terrible feeling.

A group of us have watched the Azzurris played since the 1990 World Cup. I don't know why we supported them. We just like them ;) Yeah maybe it started out because some of the players then were so good-looking. Haha! They've always been known for their strong defence. Sometimes to the point of a boring match because they defended tightly but hardly scored. But I think they have improved over the years. In this World Cup, I am delighted to see them attacking more. Maybe it's the make-up of the team. The camaraderie within the team makes it easier for them to coordinate & score. I don't know ;) Heaven is on their side this time, everything works well for them & they play well. I think they are well-deserved to win this World Cup. A happy ending for them after their loss 12 years ago.

Now, not only they are celebrating, we are gonna celebrate too! Cheerios!!!
